Burning for You

“What’d I tell you?” She muttered into my ear.
“You were right.” I squeezed her tighter. “Thank you for being my faith.”
“I’m not.” She rubbed my back. “You had it all along, I just reminded you.”
“No. You had it for me. And I had you.”

Bonus Epilogue

Hi Reader! I’m Kaye Kennedy, author of Burning for You. I hope you enjoyed reading Kyle & Allie's story as much as I enjoyed writing it. I sat down for an interview with the happy couple to give you an inside look at their relationship. I know I’m happy for them, and I’m sure you are, too. So without further ado, let's see what they had to say, shall we?

We're sitting in the living room at Kyle & Allie's house in New Rochelle. Allie is very pregnant and she is leaning against Kyle with her feet up.

Kaye Kennedy (KK):
Thank you both for meeting with me today to talk about your love story. Before we do anything, though: congratulations! I know I speak for everyone when I say we're thrilled for you both and your little one on the way.

Kyle Hogan (KH):
Thank you.

Allie Hogan (AH):
Yes, thank you.

KK:
Allie, catch us up. How far along are you? How has your pregnancy been?

AH:
*Note: She has the biggest smile on her face
I'm due in six weeks. So far it's been okay. No problems have arisen--knock on wood. Baby is healthy, so I can't ask for anything more than that. Recently, I've been pretty tired, but thankfully it's summer, so I'm not working.

KH:
She's got strict orders to relax and do nothing.

AH:
Not nothing. And those are your orders, not the doctor's. Seriously though, it's surreal. I wake up every single day feeling incredibly grateful.

KK:
I'll bet. Are you planning on going back to work once the baby is here?

AH:
We've decided that I'm going to take the next school year off so I can stay home with the baby. It'll be an adjustment, but it'll be good. I'm going to help Autumn out, too, once she goes back to work.

KH:
My mom will be around to help out a bunch as well. Allie and Mom have been over at Dylan and Autumn's a lot.

AH:
Yeah. I miss living down the block from them, but it's great being so close to Kyle's mom. We go into the city together to visit them. Thankfully, it's a pretty quick drive.

KK:
Can you spill any details on your niece or nephew?

KH:
It's not our story to tell. You'll get all the details in Declan's book, though.

KK:
Fair enough. How about your baby? Do you know what you're having.

AH:
We do.

KK:
And?

KH:
Should we tell them, Al?

AH:
Why not.

KH:
It's a boy!

They both look at each other with huge grins. Kyle kisses Allie's head.

KK:
Congratulations! That's so exciting. Have you picked out any names?

KH:
We've got a few ideas.

AH:
We don't want to decide for sure until we meet him.

KK:
Understandable. Well, I know the readers are going to be looking forward to finding out more. To shift gears, a second congratulations is in order because you two got married.

AH:
We did.

She pulls a chain necklace out of her shirt with two rings on it.

They don't fit on my swollen finger at the moment, but we are very much married.

KH:
Yes, we are. Best day of my life.

He squeezes her tightly.

AH:
Mine, too.

KK:
Can you give us some details?

AH:
Since we weren't sure how this pregnancy was going to go, we decided to have a small ceremony at the beginning of March. We didn't want to wait until after the baby arrived.

KH:
It was perfect, actually. We had it in my Mom's backyard.

AH:
Yeah, it was beautiful. It was definitely cold, but after the ceremony, we moved inside for the party.

KH:
We only had family there--well, and friends who are practically family--so, it was basically like having a big Christmas. Mom and Autumn cooked. Of course, Lana supplied the beer.

AH:
And she had plenty of her non-alcoholic hopped tea for Autumn and me.

KH:
Zoe and Lauren took care of the decorations. It looked like a florist threw up in the living room, but they made it beautiful.

AH:
That they did. My mom and brothers were there, too.

KH:
Both Brandon and Tyler walked Allie down the aisle, but if I'm being honest, I didn't notice them because she looked...

He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath before opening them again and smiling.

She was absolutely stunning. Took my breath away.

AH:
And you were incredibly handsome. It was also special having our little guy there with us.

KH:
Incredibly special.

KK:
Sounds like it was perfect.

AH:
It was.

She points to a framed photo on the bookcase. It's them on their wedding day. Allie is sitting on the playground swing and Kyle is pushing her.

KK:
You took photos at the playground? I have goosebumps.

KH:
We felt like we had to. It's where our journey began.

AH:
Taking those photos was a special moment. So many big things have happened for us on that swing set. We felt compelled to commemorate our wedding there.

KK:
You guys are going to make me cry! That's very fitting. I wish our readers could've experienced that day with you.

KH:
Maybe they still can.

AH:
I'm sensing a short story in your future, Kaye.

KK:
I think you may be onto something. But before we get ahead of ourselves, someone else has gotten married since we last saw you all.

KH:
That's right. Jesse and Lana made it official.

AH:
We're so happy for them. It was very sweet of Lana to want to include me in the wedding party, but I had to decline since my pregnancy could've derailed things.

KH:
Even though you were fine, it was still for the best. You didn't need any of that extra stress.

AH:
That's true. Poor Autumn was super pregnant, but she was a trooper.

KH:
Honestly, I think it was more stress on Dylan. Poor guy worried their entire pregnancy.

AH:
Same could be said of you, sweetie.

KH:
I haven't been that bad.

Allie laughs.

What? You think I have?

AH:
You've definitely been a bit overprotective of us.

She lovingly rubs her baby bump.

KH:
Can't blame a guy for loving you too much, can you?

AH:
Not at all. You've been really sweet.

KK:
I'm not at all surprised. Now, I know we get to experience Jesse and Lana's wedding in Declan's book, so we'll leave it at that, but Ryan mentioned something about wanting to propose to Zoe. Any news on that front?

KH:
He mimes zipping his lips.

Also not my story to tell.

KK:
Just a hint?

KH:
Not gonna happen.

KK:
All right. I concede. But our readers know that Declan and Gwen's story is next. Any comments on that?

AH:
I think the readers will be very surprised. So much happens in that book with the Hogan family.

KH:
That's an understatement. Something major happens with pretty much everyone.

AH:
It's certainly been a wild year for this family.

KH:
As for Declan and Gwen, though. It's not going to be what people expect.

AH:
Definitely not. They have a serious battle to fight to get their HEA.

KH:
Again, an understatement.

KK:
And on that note, I think we're done here. Thank you both for sitting down with me for this interview. Also, thank you for being so open and honest with your story. I hope it brings comfort to people who may be experiencing some of the same issues by letting them know they aren't alone.

AH:
Absolutely. I hope that, too.

KK:
Congratulations to you again and I can't wait to meet your son!
